Robert Latos in Venice

1 – 31 May 2015

Ca’Zanardi Palace, Venice

Robert Ca'Zanardi

Eight years ago Robert Latos resigned from his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts during the third year, to live in Venice, a city of his masters. Foundations of this youthful initiative were simple, explains the artist.

“ What other place, if not the one which formed artists like Titian or Bellini could give me the answer to the fundamental question about the essence of painting? These few almost 400 years old canvases of Titian made me realize the gap between my artistic sensibility against the present.”

After eight years, on the day of his 30th birthday, Robert Latos returns to Venice with a collection of his own paintings. Nor do they in order or coherent plan, to which we have grown accustomed by contemporary artists, but it’s merely the same, still recurring question about the essence of painting.
